My biggest task is believing God loves me REGARDLESS OF MY PERFORMANCE!
You see, you and I can NEVER perform perfectly enough to “deserve” God’s love. He loves you. That’s the bottom line. When fail, (and you will) He still loves you. He’s a God who forgives and restores.
So, here’s some things to remind yourself when you are doubting God’s love for you:
1) He Loved You Before You Loved Him!
“We love because He first loved us.”( 1Jn. 4:19) That simple little phrase reminds me that God has ALWAYS loved me. He didn’t wait for me to love Him. He has loved me for all of eternity.
That”s why I don’t “earn” His love. He gave it freely to me long before i ever loved Him back. Become convinced that God has ALWAYS loved you.
In your deepest trouble and storm, let your foot rest on the solid rock of this truth: “God has ALWAYS loved me and will ALWAYS love me.”
2) His Love Is Poured Out Upon You By The Holy Spirit!
“God’s love HAS BEEN poured into our hearts through thr Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” (Rom. 5:5)
When we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to live and takes up residence in our hearts. He never leaves you. One of the Holy Spirit’s primary functions is to convince you in every situation (no matter how bad) that God loves you.
Call upon Him in trouble. Pray “in the Spirit.” Thank the Holy Spirit that He is God’s representative living inside you. This makes your walk with God unchangeable. He will never leave you.
Go ahead. Say it out loud: “God loves me!” say it every day. Say it in every storm. Say it after failure. Say it after every disappointment with yourself. “God really loves me!”
