🔥 FAITH SPEAKS — THE POWER OF WHAT YOU SAY

Mark 11:12–14, 20–25 NKJV

The lesson begins with something Jesus said:

“Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” — Mark 11:14

Jesus spoke to the fig tree, and His disciples heard Him.

The next morning:

“The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.” — 

Mark 11:21

Notice what Jesus did next. 

He did not merely explain the miracle

—He taught them how faith works.

1. HAVE FAITH IN GOD

Mark 11:22

“Have faith in God.”

Faith begins with God. We trust Him, His character, and His Word.

2. FAITH SPEAKS

Mark 11:23

Jesus immediately moves from faith to what you say:

“Whoever says to this mountain…”

The word “says” is central to Jesus’ teaching.

He doesn’t say merely, 

“Think about the mountain.”

He doesn’t say merely, 

“Feel something about the mountain.”

He says:

“WHOEVER SAYS…”

Faith believes in the heart, but faith also speaks.

3. SPEAK TO THE MOUNTAIN

Jesus gives us the picture:

“Be removed and be cast into the sea.”

The mountain represents an obstacle, opposition, or seemingly impossible situation.

Jesus teaches His disciples to address the mountain with faith.

Faith doesn’t just recognize the mountain—faith speaks to it.

4. BELIEVE WHAT YOU SAY

Mark 11:23 continues:

“and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done…”

There is a powerful connection:

BELIEVE → SAY → BELIEVE WHAT YOU SAY

Your words should agree with what you believe God has said.

5. BELIEVE YOU RECEIVE

Mark 11:24

“Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

Prayer and faith are connected with believing and receiving.

You don’t wait until you see the answer before you believe God. 

You believe God and His Word while you are still looking at the circumstances.

6. FORGIVE

Then Jesus gives another important instruction:

Mark 11:25

“Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him…”

Faith is not separated from a right heart toward others‼️

The fig tree is the demonstration.

Jesus spoke.

The disciples heard.

The fig tree changed.

Jesus then taught them: 

“Have faith in God.”

So the emphasis of Mark 11:22–24 is not merely having faith—it is understanding that faith expresses itself through what we say.

What are you saying about your mountain?

Instead of agreeing with the problem, agree with God’s Word.

Faith speaks God’s Word.

Faith believes God’s Word.

Faith acts on God’s Word.

Faith expects God’s Word to come to pass‼️
