Imagine, if you will, how life would be. How your relationship with Him would be, if you really believed this one word.
Let’s set this up;
***She wasn’t supposed to be there.
Not in the crowd.
Not near a man.
Not touching ANYONE! Especially the hem of a rabbi’s robe!
***Twelve ( 12 ) long years.
Unclean.
Unseen.
Untouchable.
That was her name. That was her story.
***That word, UNCLEAN.
Followed her like a shadow.
It shaped how others saw her.
It shaped how she saw herself.
It shaped how she approached Jesus.
***She didn’t want to make a scene. To make a fuss.
” If I may but touch his garment… “
Just a brush.
Just a thread.
Just enough.
I love her belief.
That even a brush up against Jesus would make a difference. But Jesus gave her more than a miracle. More than a healing.
HE GAVE HER A NAME!
Jesus turned, saw her fearing, trembling, and said one word. Just one word.
” DAUGHTER! “
Not ma’am.
Not stranger.
Not outcast.
” DAUGHTER! “
In Greek, the word is: ’ thygater ‘
It’s rare.
It’s tender.
It’s intimate.
A word of relationship.
Of belonging.
Of inheritance.
There are other words that convey ’ daughter, ’ but this one IS NOT a caual word. It CARRIES MEANING! It’s a claiming one.
It was status. It meant: You are in the family. You have worth. You have a place. You are loved, protected, included.
It’s what a father calls his beloved. His favorite.
She didn’t just get her body healed. She got her identity restored. He called her ” daughter.”
A new name. One that would replace the one others had called her.
She was NO LONGER an outsider. In a single word He reminded her of something that would change everything.
SHE HAD DAUGHTER STATUS!
She didn’t need to hide at the edge, grasping for threads. She didn’t need to fear or tremble. Jesus sees. Jesus stops. And Jesus will treat you like who you are: a daughter, a son.
You DON’T have to sneak in or stay off to the side. You BELONG in the story. You BELONG to Him.
YOU HAVE DAUGHTER STATUS!
YOU HAVE SON STATUS!
Just one word can change your life!
