The Secret to Overcoming Sinful Habits. Part 2
Yesterday we established that thoughts produce actions, actions become habits, habits shape character, and character determines destiny.
Now the question is:
What determines what occupies your mind?
The answer is simple:
The things you watch.
The things you hear.
The friends you keep.
The conversations you entertain.
The books you read.
The environment you expose yourself to.
These constantly feed your mind with information—either godly or ungodly.
Whatever you repeatedly meditate on eventually finds expression in your life.
You cannot continually consume seductive entertainment and expect to overcome sexual immorality.
You cannot constantly think like a pauper and expect to walk in financial wisdom.
Information is everywhere.
You may not control everything you see or hear, but you can decide what you continue to entertain in your mind.
This is why Paul commands us:
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true… honest… just… pure… lovely… of good report… think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
What fills your mind today will shape your life tomorrow.
In Part 3, we’ll see how Satan used this very principle in the Garden of Eden—and how God gives us victory over our thoughts.
