The Anointing Is Transferable—So Is Wickedness
Tell Me Who Your Friends Are, and I’ll Tell You Who You Are

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”— Proverbs 27:17

The familiar saying, **”Tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are,”** echoes a timeless biblical principle. God created relationships to shape us. Whether we realize it or not, the people we spend the most time with influence our thoughts, values, decisions, and ultimately our spiritual walk.

Proverbs 27:17 reminds us that **people sharpen one another**. Just as iron removes the dullness from iron, godly friendships strengthen our faith, challenge us to grow, and encourage us to pursue Christ wholeheartedly. Throughout Scripture, we see that God’s anointing is often imparted through close relationships. Moses mentored Joshua. Elijah passed his mantle to Elisha. Paul invested deeply in Timothy. Spiritual passion, wisdom, and faith are often caught as much as they are taught.

But influence works both ways.

The Bible warns, **”Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company corrupts good character’”** (1 Corinthians 15:33). Just as anointing can be transferred, so can compromise, unbelief, bitterness, and worldliness. Solomon’s heart was drawn away by ungodly influences, proving that even the wisest person is not immune to the company he keeps.

Take a moment to examine your closest relationships. Do they sharpen your faith or slowly dull your passion for God? Do they inspire you to pursue holiness or make sin seem acceptable? The people around you are either drawing you closer to Christ or pulling you farther away.

Choose your circle wisely. Walk with those who love God, honor His Word, and challenge you to become more like Jesus. **The anointing is transferable—but so is wickedness.** The company you keep today will greatly influence the person you become tomorrow.
