The Betrayal That Cut Deep!

Ricky  /  June 4, 2025

Betrayal hurts. Especially when it’s from someone who once held your secrets. But God doesn’t just restore—-He defends. Let Him handle the betrayers in your life.

***This man was named Ahithophel. He wasn’t just a background character. He was David’s trusted advisor. His wisdom was so sharp, scripture says it was if a man had inquired at the oracle of God. (2Sam.16:23) This wasn’t a stranger—-this was someone David trusted with his strategy and soul.

***So when David’s own son Absalom started a rebellion, Ahithophel switched sides and joined the revolt. He used his wisdom against David. That’s betrayal. And it hurt—-deeply.

***What do you do when the betrayal isn’t from an enemy, but from someone who once prayed with you, built with you, and believed in you?

***David said in Psalm 55; ” If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it. But it is you, my close friend.” That’s real pain.

***But, here’s the plot twist. Even though Ahithophel’s advice was powerful, God stepped in. He caused Absalom to reject that advice and follow someone else. God can frustrate the plans of those who turn against you—-even when they’re brilliant.

***David didn’t clap back. He prayed, ” Lord, turn Ahithophel’s counsel into foolishness. ” (2Sam.15:31) And that one prayer? It shifted the whole war.

*Here’s what we learn from David & Ahithophel: Not everyone who starts with you will finish with you.

*Betrayal doesn’t cancel your anointing.

*God can protect you from what was meant to destroy you.

*And the wildest part? Ahithophel couldn’t handle being cut off from the influence. He went home, got his affairs in order, and ended his own life. (2Sam.17:23) Betrayal boomeraged!

*So if you’re dealing with betrayal right now, take it to God like David did. Pray over it, Especially in the Spirit. Don’t fight dirty. God will frustrate their counsel and preserve your crown. The same God who covered David will cover you. You’re still called. Still chosen. Still protected. Still anointed!
