THE EARTH IS HIS FOOTSTOOL

Look beneath your feet.

You are standing on a planet approximately 12,742 kilometres in diameter.

Its surface covers roughly 510 million square kilometres.

Its mass is approximately 5.97 × 10²⁴ kilograms.

Try to comprehend that.

Oceans.

Continents.

Mountains.

Deserts.

Forests.

Cities.

Billions of human beings.

An enormous planet travelling through space.

And then listen to what God says:

«“Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool.”
— Isaiah 66:1»

Don’t rush past that statement.

Earth is His footstool.

The Bible is using imagery to communicate something our minds struggle to comprehend:

God is infinitely greater than the creation we find almost impossible to comprehend.

You can travel for hours and still be on the same continent.

You can fly for hours and still be on the same planet.

You can stand before an enormous mountain and feel completely insignificant.

But the God who created this Earth is not overwhelmed by its size.

And here is where this becomes personal.

Maybe your problem currently feels like your whole world.

The bills are consuming your thoughts.

The family situation is consuming your peace.

The business problem is consuming your attention.

The unanswered prayer is consuming your hope.

But remember:

The God who is not overwhelmed by the size of the Earth is not overwhelmed by the size of your problem.

Your problem may be big enough to consume your attention.

It is not big enough to consume God.

So today, lift your eyes.

Your circumstances may be filling your vision.

But don’t allow them to fill your entire vision of reality.

There is a God above the problem.

A God who sees what you cannot see.

A God who knows what you do not know.

A God whose resources are greater than yours.

And this is only the beginning.

Because Isaiah is about to say something even more astonishing:

«God weighs mountains in scales.»
