The Fear Of The Lord

Ricky  /  October 12, 2026

THE FEAR OF THE LORD — WHAT MOST PEOPLE WERE NEVER TOLD

There is a door in the Kingdom that almost nobody walks through anymore, because somewhere along the way, we were taught to be afraid of the word “fear” itself. We built a gospel of comfort and left out the one thing that used to make men fall on their faces in His presence. I want to open that door for you today.

Let me show you what I saw.
Fear of the Lord is not the fear of a man hiding from someone who might hurt him. That is the fear of a slave, a fear that runs, a fear that hides behind trees the way Adam did. The fear of the Lord is the opposite. It is a weight so holy that you don’t want to run but you want to kneel. It is the trembling of a man standing too close to something too pure for him, and loving it anyway. It draws you in, it does not push you away.

Here is what I saw clearly: the fear of the Lord is not the beginning emotion of a new believer that fades once love arrives. It is the atmosphere the mature live in forever. The deeper you go with Him, the more you tremble, not less. The angels who have lived in His presence for eternity still cover their faces. They did not graduate out of trembling into familiarity. The closer to the fire, the more reverent the posture.

I saw this too and i understood that the fear of the Lord is not about being scared of punishment. It is about seeing Him as He truly is. Now picture this,  when you see something as small, you treat it carelessly but when you see something as it truly is ➡️ holy, weighty, consuming, you cannot help but be changed by how you carry yourself around it. That is why a man can sin easily around a God he has shrunk down in his mind, but a man who has truly seen Him cannot sin so easily anymore. So the fear is not the chain. The fear is the cure.

This is the part many were never told: the absence of this fear is what makes sin feel light. When a people lose reverence, they lose restraint. They can worship on Sunday and live however on Monday, because the weight of who He is never settled on them. It is not more teaching on grace that is missing in many lives. It is this,  the holy weight that makes grace feel like what it actually cost.

And here is the mystery hidden inside it: the fear of the Lord is actually where real intimacy begins, not where it ends. The same awe that makes you tremble is what makes Him trust you with secrets. Those who feared the Lord in Scripture were the ones who heard His voice clearest, who saw what others could not see, who were trusted with what others were not trusted with. Reverence is the door into revelation. Casualness closes that door quietly, without you even noticing it closing.

So I am not telling you today to be scared of God. I am telling you to stop making Him small enough to not be afraid of. Let Him be as holy as He actually is, and watch what changes in you. Watch how sin starts to feel heavier in your hands. Watch how worship stops being a routine and starts being an encounter. Watch what He begins to show you once reverence returns.

A PRAYER FOR YOU:
Father, in Jesus name forgive me for shrinking You down to a size that was comfortable for me. Today I ask for the fear of the Lord, not the fear that runs, but the fear that kneels. Let Your holiness become real to me again. Let reverence return to my worship, my choices, my private life. I do not want to just know about You, I want to tremble before You and be trusted with what You only show the reverent. In Jesus name, Amen.

Write: “LORD, GIVE ME THE FEAR THAT KNEELS, NOT THE FEAR THAT RUNS”
Write it and let reverence return. Share this with someone who has made God too small to tremble before!
