When  Christ  Is  Present

Ricky

Jesus’ first miracle was not about urgency or danger.  It was about JOY!

At a wedding on an ordinary day,  Jesus quietly protected a celebration from shame and

filled it with abundance.

This tells us something essential about God.

#He does not enter human life to flatten it.

#He enters it to restore what joy was always meant to be.

Christmas reminds us that holiness does not drain delight. When Christ is present,

joy is not lost, rather it’s fulfilled!

~~John tells us this was the first sign Jesus performed.

       Not a healing.

        Not a deliverance.

        Not a confrontation.

         A wedding!

   ~~In Scripture, weddings represent:

         covenant

         union

          joy

         future hope.

By choosing a wedding,  Jesus places Himself inside ORDINARY human

celebration.

    ~~Then the wine runs out.

In the ancient world,  this WAS NOT inconvenience. It was actually public

shame.

A celebration meant to honor a family is about to collapse into disgrace.

~~Mary brings the problem to Jesus.

        There is no public panic.

         No spectacle.

Just faith that He CAN act.

         Joy is fragile here.

    ~~Jesus DOESN’T say

         ”This is not important.”

         ”This is beneath Me.”

         ”This is just human joy.”

Rather,  He engages. That alone tells us something about God that is often

          missed.

    ~~Jesus’ words are often misunderstood.

         He IS NOT refusing!

He IS signaling that what He is about to do points forward…TO THE CROSS!

Joy and sacrifice are already connected.

~~The water jars were set aside for ritual purification.

But Jesus fills them and turns cleansing into celebration.

This is not just joy…it’s FULFILLMENT!

~~Jesus DOES NOT make a small amount of wine.

        He makes an OVERWHELMING amount!

Joy IS NOT barely preserved, it is LAVISHED!

~~The master of the feast says; “You have kept the good wine until now.”

Jesus DOES NOT rescue the celebration with leftovers…He BRINGS THE BEST!

~~This IS NOT indugence, it IS A SIGN!

Joy in God’s kingdom IS NOT stingy or embarrassed.

         IT IS generous and purposeful.

~~John tells us;  “This, the first of His signs…manifested His glory. And His

        disciples believed in Him.”

Joy reveals glory when it is rightly perceived.

~~Others drink the wine and never know its source.

         THE DISCIPLES SEE.

Joy does not become faith unless it is beheld.

~~We often think holiness diminshes joy.

But this wedding, says the opposite.

The Presence Of Christ Deepens Joy!

~~Christmas is God entering the ordinary.

         Meals.

         Homes.

         Celebrations.

         Communities.

Jesus DOES NOT avoid human joy, He restores it!

~~Jesus preserves joy without drawing attention to the problem.

He allows celebration to continue untouched by shame.

~~What was meant to remove impurity, becomes a VESSEL FOR JOY!

~~Jesus first sign tells us that JOY MATTERS TO GOD!

Human celebration matters to God. Abundance matters to God!

~~The Presence Of Christ Does Not Diminish Joy.  It Makes It Whole!

   ~~~~~~~Merry  Christmas~~~~~~~~
