WHY DAVID WAS NOT AFRAID OF GOLIATH’S SIZE
Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 17:32–37, 45–47
There is a powerful lesson in the story of David and Goliath that many people overlook. David was not the strongest man in Israel, he was not an experienced soldier, and he had never fought in a national war. Yet, when the entire army of Israel was afraid, David was ready to face the giant.
Why?
David saw something that the other soldiers failed to see. They saw Goliath’s size, weapons, and strength, but David saw the greatness of the God whom Goliath was challenging‼️
In 1 Samuel 17:26, David asked, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
David’s confidence was not in his physical strength. It was in the God he had come to know while tending his father’s sheep. Before David faced Goliath publicly, he had already experienced God’s help privately when he fought the lion and the bear.
➡️💥Here is the lesson: Your private battles can prepare you for your public victories.💥⬅️
Sometimes, God allows you to face difficult situations that teach you to trust Him before you encounter greater challenges. The victories nobody celebrates may be the very experiences God uses to strengthen your faith.
🔥Notice something else: David did not deny that Goliath was a giant. He simply refused to believe that Goliath was greater than God.🔥
That is the difference between faith and fear. Fear magnifies the problem until you forget God’s power, but faith remembers that no problem is greater than the One who is with you.
David declared in 1 Samuel 17:45, “I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts.”
He did not come in the name of his experience, his appearance, or his weapons. He came trusting in the Lord.
However, this story does not mean that every challenge will disappear instantly or that faith removes the need for preparation. David had already developed his skills, and he used the tools he knew how to handle. His courage and preparation worked together.
Child of God, do not measure your future only by the size of the problem standing before you. Remember what God has already brought you through. Do not allow the fear of people, difficult circumstances, or overwhelming challenges to make you forget the faithfulness of God.
🔥The giant may be bigger than you, but that does not mean your God is smaller than your problem.🔥
David’s victory reminds us that human strength is not the final measure of what is possible when we trust God and act with courage.
Never forget: Goliath had the appearance of a warrior, but David had the courage to stand for the living God. The battle was not decided by appearance alone.🔥
Read 1 Samuel 17:45–47 and ask yourself: Am I looking only at the size of my problem, or am I remembering the greatness of my God?
